Restaurant Local Farm Westport Lunch Terrain Home, Garden, & Cafe Opens Today in Westport Stephanie Webster May 11, 2012 It takes quite a bit to impress this native New Yorker when it comes to home design stores, but Terrain opened its doors in Westport tonight, and I have to say...I’m impressed. This breathtakingly beautiful space is quite literally a gallery for impeccably sourced home, garden, specialty food and gift items. The use of indoor/outdoor space and broad skylights makes this store feel like a walk through an elegant English garden. And in the middle of this green space is a coffee bar boasting Counter Culture beans, well trained baristas and baked goods, as well as a restaurant with a local, organic menu that will reflects the cycle of the seasons and the local Westport community. The Cafe at Terrain is currently open for business with the coffee bar and “late afternoon” menu featuring salads, soups and panini, while the restaurant will follow suit on May 22nd. At the helm is Executive Chef Joe Wolfson, from Alabama, who was voted one of Food & Wine’s “Best New Chefs” in 2011, and the dinner menu looks like it’s worth a sample. Items of note were; Pork Belly Sticky Buns, Scallops with Terrain bacon, horseradish, peas and Red Bee honey, Gnocchi with beets, fennel, leeks and brown butter, Risotto with fava beans, and Pomme frite with smoked ketchup. Brunch will be served on weekends. Even if you're just shopping for that perfect gift, I encourage you to take a peek at the dining room. It ranks as one of the most aestheticallypleasing dining spaces Fairfield County has to offer. Also worth checking out is the well curated array of specialty food products including; local Red Bee Honey, Frankie’s 457 Olive Oil from the New York / Brooklyn favorite Frankie’s Sputino, Theo’s Chocolates from Seattle, McClure’s Pickles, as well as Westport’s own Nothin’ But granola bars.
