Wood-fired pizzas, a softly lit interior, and a seemingly infinite bourbon list sets the stage for NoRa neighborhood newcomer Krust. Owners Rich Garcia and Kevin Wirtes introduced the Middletown eatery in mid-January 2013, showcasing a concise but creative menu of beautifully executed artisan pies. Whether it’s the rustic pine paneling, amber glow of bar shelves brimming with bourbon bottles, or smoky aromas permeating the space from the wood burning oven, one thing is evident: Krust is a delicious and welcome addition to Middletown’s bar and restaurant scene.

Menu
A simple, page-long menu highlights a series of inventive flavor combinations that far exceed their modest descriptions. Krust offers ten signature red and white pizzas along with a build-your-own option and two salad selections. Among the superbly charred wood-fired pies, Krust’s take on bacon and eggs, the “Sunny Side,” is sure to intrigue taste buds with mozzarella, parmesan, fresh garlic and smoky pancetta crowned with a sunny side up egg. To end on a sweet note, Krust’s dessert menu is a constant rotation of cupcakes from neighboring bakery, NoRa Cupcake. Because, let’s be honest: what’s better than ending a night of pizza and bourbon with an Irish Car Bomb confection?

Bar Scene
Krust’s drink menu is a sight to behold with an exquisite bourbon and whiskey selection that ranges from predictable pours to a 20 year Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve. Signature twists on classic cocktails add to a lengthy list of house creations, including the Cabin, a blend of Tap 357 Canadian Maple Rye Whisky, mellow corn, apple cider topped with cranberry juice and dried cranberries.
