Sweet & Simple Bakery Opens @ Fairfield’s Greenfield Hill

Michelle Jaffee is up and in her new home away from home at 75 Hillside Road long before the sun comes up. There, she’s busily getting ready for the day ahead creating delightful treats for her wholesale clients as well as the for her new SWEET & SIMPLE BAKERY. You may have seen her brand at your local retail grocer, but now Michelle has a storefront of her own, and her selection of cookies, brownies and cakes, which are available on a rotating basis, is growing daily. 

Cookies include, but are not limited to, chocolate chip, oatmeal, peanut butter, sugar, almond butter and thumbprints. If you’re looking for a cake for a Birthday or other special occasion, Michelle offers golden yellow, chocolate, coconut, banana, carrot, lemon, Red Velvet and strawberry shortcakes, as well as a wide selection of homemade frostings, ganaches and fillings. 

Sweet & Simple isn’t just your neighborhood cookie and brownie bake shop. They are continually adding items to their menu and now offer dinner rolls, and challah.  Her new breakfast offerings are wildly popular and now incorporate almond rings and pecan Danish. While I was there last Saturday the doughnut muffins were flying off the counters. Children just love them! Looking for a more savory treat? Her customers cannot seem to get enough of her egg and cheese biscuits. A corn muffin with bacon and cheddar cheese is the latest item to be added to the ever growing list of delectable treats.

I couldn’t very well leave there empty handed as I had three very hungry mouths to feed at home, so I picked up one of the few remaining almond rings for myself, er, I mean my children! This sweet and simple treat did not disappoint. I am happy, and yet embarrassed to say that our almond ring didn’t last very long once we cut into it!

Sweet & Simple’s priorities have never wavered as they are committed to using only premium ingredients, including farm fresh eggs from Connecticut’s Farmer’s Cow, Vermont creamery butter, King Arthur Flour, select Callebaut chocolate products and local, seasonal ingredients whenever possible.  All of Sweet & Simple’s baking for area patrons and online orders are baked at the shop. The bake shop does take special orders and does catering. 

Sweet & Simple is located at 75 Hillside Road in the Greenfield Hill section of Fairfield. They are open Tuesday -Friday, 7am to 5pm., Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 2pm, and closed on Mondays.
