When The Port opened its doors in Westport recently, crafting a dining experience for all ages was part of the goal. “I’ve always wanted to open a restaurant, a neighborhood spot where locals can enjoy food that is approachable and comfortable,” said owner Sal Augeri. Connecticut is home to an array of esteemed restaurants, but sometimes it’s hard to find a place where kids will also feel at home amid all the gourmet eateries. Fortunately, there are a number of places where adults and children alike can enjoy a delicious meal out. These restaurants offer kid-friendly dishes, atmospheres, and even specials. Bartaco, Stamford, Westport, West Hartford: While the 21 and over crowd flocks to Bartaco for its margaritas, the restaurant is also family friendly! From its rotating "secret tacos" to gluten free options, kids can find plenty to enjoy on and off the menu!
Valencia Luncheria, Norwalk: Valencia Luncheria offers authentic elevated Venezuelan street food in a casual setting. Located in Norwalk, the interior is colorful and energetic with lots of seating. In the warmer months, the outdoor area is a fun place to eat.
Bodega, Fairfield Darien: When the family wants taco night, Bodega is the answer! Kids will love their Americano Tacos (ground beef and cheese), as well as the delicious guacamole.
Rosie’s, New Canaan: Kids love the baked goods and comfort food menu at Rosie's in New Canaan. Their brunch is also a fun activity, with dishes like Brioche French Toast and hot cocoa piled with whipped cream.
Hoodoo Brown BBQ, Ridgefield: What's more kid friendly than a large open warehouse space with piles of tasty meat? Fried Chicken and Waffles, Smoked Turkey, Nachos, & Wings make this BBQ haven a great spot for kids.
Walrus + Carpenter, Bridgeport: Walrus + Carpenter in Bridgeport is known for its BBQ. Many meats are meant for sharing so kids can dive in to all kinds of BBQ classics.
Mecha, Norwalk, New Haven, Fairfield: "Slurping encouraged!" is the motto at Mecha. What youngster can resist the opportunity? Fried Chicken Buns and kids Ramen keep the younger set coming back.
Colony Grill, Stamford, Milford, Norwalk, Fairfield: Colony Grill is a legend and a long time favorite for the younger generation! It's the perfect place for soccer team parties or a family dinner. We don't recommend the "hot oil" pie for the little ones however.
Fortina, Stamford: Fortina's wood-fired pizzas are hits with people of all ages. The atmosphere is fun and festive and the Harbor Point neighborhood provides dynamic surroundings.
Rowayton Pizza, Norwalk: Rowayton Pizza is a great family-friendly option for both lunch and dinner with tons of great outdoor seating and a neighborhood vibe.
El Segundo, Norwalk: Global street food style tapas encourage family sharing at El Segundo in Norwalk, in a lively graffiti adorned dining space. This is also right across from the Maritime Aquarium.
Little Pub, Fairfield, Greenwich, Wilton, Ridgefield: These guys TRULY have something for everyone. Adults can enjoy great craft beer and a tasty comfort food focused menu. Kids can enjoy many items on the regular menu such as their diverse burger offerings, nachos, or select from a large menu of small plates. They also have a dedicated kids menu with "noodles with no green stuff," grilled cheese, sliders and other classic kids' eats.
Locali, New Canaan: Locali in New Canaan is not your average pizza place. In addition to wood fired pizza, there are delicious small plates and other entrees. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy. The patio also offers a great spot for families.
Brick +Wood, Fairfield: Adults can enjoy wine on draft while the younger crowd delves into tasty pizza pies at Brick + Wood in Fairfield (including a dessert s'mores pie).
Pho Hong Thom, Bridgeport: Pho Hong Thom is one of Bridgeport's best kept secrets. Visit them for authentic Vietnamese cuisine that comes with plenty of sauces for kids to experiment with.
Nom-eez, Bridgeport: Dinner and donuts! Youngsters will have fun slurping the pho at Nom-eez and go "crazy" for the sweet offerings by Donut Crazy in the same space. Kids Ramen and Pho with simple noodle, a protein and broth available.

Corner Restaurant, Milford: The Corner Restaurant in Milford is THE place for family breakfast! Stuffed French Toast! How about Pecan Crusted? There are so many tasty treats to choose from.
Little Barn, Westport: Kids and adults love this comfort food classics menu complete with tacos, quesadillas, burgers, killer fries and enormous pretzels. If your little ones prefer a dedicated "kids menu," they have that as well, with some healthy options alongside the chicken tenders. If you can score a seat on the outdoor patio, everyone wins.
SoNo Seaport, Norwalk: In the summer, the younger crowd loves SoNo Seaport's outdoor patio. With plenty of picnic tables and waterside seats, it's great for groups. The fried seafood accompanied by giant fries are kid-friendly introductions to different kinds of seafood
Taco Loco, Bridgeport: At Taco Loco in Bridgeport, every meal begins with a complementary bowl of chips and salsa for sharing. Adults can pick one of the restaurant's famous margaritas while kids can select from an array of tacos, quesadillas, and more. The patio makes for fun seating.
