Ad: Bring Your Appetite to New Canaan’s Holiday Stroll Stephanie Webster November 20, 2010 Remember the picturesque town in the Christmas classic It's A Wonderful Life? Well, the town of New Canaan’s annual Holiday Stroll, coming up this year on Friday, December 3rd from 6 - 9 PM and Saturday December 4th from 10 - 5PM, recreates the quaint perfection of that fictional village, without the creepy old angel-man! Christmas carols, performances by the Norwalk Symphony Ensemble Orchestra, Santa (the REAL one this time!), and a town-wide Gingerbread House Tour are just some of the fabulous treats that await. And to top it off, there is some serious holiday eating to be done! Bring the whole family and let the festivities begin!!! Here are the foodie highlights: The Waffle Cabin: If you’ve done any local skiing, you are already likely to be acquainted with the slope-side Waffle Cabins and the cult-like obsession with their warm sugar coated breakfast cake. I can sense your excitement already…Yes, The Waffle Cabin is taking their waffle iron on the road serving their goods at the corner of Elm and Main Street Friday evening and all day Saturday. No thermals needed for this outing (hopefully). The Roger Sherman Inn: On the morning of Friday the 3rd, lucky commuters will be greeted with freshly baked muffins (see recipe below) from the Roger Sherman Inn along with coffee and newspapers c/o The NC Chamber of Commerce. If you haven’t had the chance to Brunch at The Roger Sherman, this is the perfect introduction to their decadent AM menu. Almost makes me want to start commuting. Hot Chocolate for All: Gelatissimo, New Canaan’s mecca for freshly made artisan gelato will be serving hot chocolate to guests at the corner of South Avenue and Elm. If their hot cocoa is even half as good as their gelato, I’d bring an extra-large mug. Bertrand L’Herbette of Fabulous Feasts NC will be making authentic French crepes in the front window of Design Solutions on the evening of Dec. 3rd. Good enough NOT to eat- The "Gingerbread House Tour:” M Milestones will be giving away 75 Gingerbread House kits from November 22nd through the 27th. Try your hand at this kid-friendly craft and return your masterpieces for display at local stores for all to enjoy during the Holiday Stroll on December 3rd and 4th. Watch the Gingerbread Pro: Karen Zuckert, a New Canaan resident and gingerbread artist will be decorating an original creation, live at Milestones on Friday evening 7-7:30. The kids will love this one! Whether you are a New Canaan or Fairfield County resident, The Holiday Stroll continues to be one of the reasons why living in this area is indeed “A Wonderful Life.” To learn more about the 6th Annual Holiday Stroll please contact Tucker@newcanaanchamber.com or call the chamber offices at 203-966-2004.
