Weekly Nibble: Upcoming Food News & Events for Week of August 25-Sept 1

Monday, August 25th, try “Fresh Cheese Pairings” with Caseus in New Haven.  The cheese will be paired with beer and wine, and their chef will give a burrata making tutorial as well.  $40pp. 

Stamford Summer Restaurant Week continues!  Over 30 Downtown Stamford restaurants will feature an array of lunch & dinner prix fixe menus.  This time around, each participating restaurant will create a Signature Summer Cocktail.  

Allagash Brewing Company of Portland, Maine will bring their best brews to Harlan Social on Tuesday, August 26th.  Harlan Social will create a special 5-course menu to be paired with their beers.  $75 plus tax and tip. 6:30 - 9:30pm. Call 203.883.8000 to reserve seats. 

Also on August 26, feast on dinner at Eddy Farm with Chef Eric of Barcelona West Hartford.  The Barcelona-inspired summer tapas will be prepared with farm-fresh ingredients.   The dishes will be paired with Spanish wines. Limited seating is available. $85 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Begins at 7pm.

Jones Family Farms Winery presents a “Sip & Savor Summer Series: Connecticut Wine & Cheese Party” on Wednesday August 27.  Sip four different wines paired alongside a farm-to-table meal.  Learn about the wine and food as you enjoy the bounties.  6:30-8:30pm.  $65 per person.

Alternatively, visit Ordinary in New Haven on Wednesdays for their Cocktail Lab from 5-9pm.  They’ll feature themed drinks.

Wednesday August 27th, relive Nirvana at Walrus + Carpenter!  Eat their BBQ fare and sip on cocktails while a tribute band performs.  

The Darien Farmers Market runs on Wednesdays from 11-3. 

Thursday August 28 at 4pm, Veggiecation and Whole Foods Market unite to teach children to make Bumblebee Salad and Edamole Dip.  Space is limited.  Email DanburyEvents@wholefoods.com to register for this FREE class.

Visit Parallel Post for "Mussel Madness" on Thursdays between and 5-10 pm as part of their "Seafood Summer" promo.  The special will entail all you can eat Spicy Mussels with Grilled Bread for $16 and will be available every Thursday through Thursday, September 4.

The next installation of Westpour, a National Hall Block Party held on the National Hall Green in Westport, will take place on Friday August 29 from 6-10pm.  Tickets for food and drinks will be available for purchase on site. Friday, August 29 from 6-8pm, kids ages 6 and up can participate in an “Under the Sea” cooking class at Stew Leonard’s in Newington.  They’ll learn to make Super Simple Sushi, Fiesta Fish Tacos, and Octopus Cupcakes. $25 per child

From August 30-31, visit the 7^th Annual Blues, Views, and BBQ Festival in Westport.  The family-friendly festival will feature bouncy amusements, bull riding, kids activities, cooking demos, live music, a BBQ competition, and eating contests.  It will be held on the grounds of the Westport Library, Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts, Imperial Ave parking lot. 

It’s a “Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Pairing Class” at Haight-Brown Vineyard on Saturday August 30 from 1-5pm.  You even get a glass to bring home.  $35pp. 29 Chestnut Hill Road, Litchfield, CT. 

Bishops Orchards will also pair their wines with cheese on Saturday August 30.  1355 Boston Post Road, Guilford, CT.  

Two Roads in Stratford has brewery tours Friday Evenings at 6:30 pm, Saturday at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 pm, and Sunday at 1, 3 and 5 pm.
