Weekly Nibble: Autism Bites, Paella 101, Easter Dinners, Breweries & More

On Tuesday March 31, Barcelona West Hartford invites you to “Paella 101.”  Chef Eric will demonstrate how to make this classic Spanish dish at 7pm.  The class is $29 per person, plus tax and gratuity. 

Also on Tuesday, Blue Lemon in Westport will hold a six-course wine dinner featuring wines from Rioja.  Chef Bryan Malcarney will prepare his twist on Spanish cuisine and wine pairings from the region. 7pm, $78 per person.  

Autism Bites! Starting April 2 (World Autism Awareness Day), popular Fairfield County restaurants will donate a percentage all food/beverage sales to Autism Speaks during the month of April. 

There will be a Two Roads beer dinner at Tavern 1757 at 6:30pm.  The restaurant is located at 318 Roosevelt Ave in Seymour, CT.

Wednesday April 1: “If I Only Had A Grain,” 7-9pm, $70 per person

Friday April 3: “Hook, Line, and Skillet,” 7-9pm, $80 per person

It’s no April Fools’ joke… on Wednesday April 1, Sugar and Olives in Norwalk will teach you everything you need to know about the perfect sauté in “sauté 101.”  The class lasts from 7-9pm and costs $80 per person. 

Stewarts in New Canaan will hold a Kosher wine tasting on April 1.  Passover begins Friday April 3, and you can sample wines from Tabor Vineyards, located in Israel, from 4-6:30pm.  Come down to try their Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz.  All are certified Kosher for Passover.

Thursday, April 2 from 6:45 - 8:00 pm, join Ancona’s in Ridgefield for a tasting of wines from Spanish  producer La Rioja Alta. Email monique@anconaswine.com to reserve your seat. To cover the cost of supplies, this event is $30/person.

Thursday April 2, Symphonic Bodega will bring their live music to Walrus + Carpenter in Bridgeport. 

Also on Thursday, Ancona's Wines & Liquors in Ridgefied will host “A Taste of Old-School Rioja” from 6:45-8pm.  The evening will feature wines from La Rioja Alta.  Seating is limited so please call (203)544-8958 or e-mail monique@anconaswine.com to reserve your space.  It costs $30 per person.

Charter Oak Brewing Co comes to Total Wines in Norwalk on Friday April 3.  Sample the brews from 4-7pm.

Friday April 3 is Open House at Stamford’s Half Full Brewery.  For a $15 entrance fee, you get to enjoy open taps.  Feel free to bring your own food!  

Glen Liquors in Darien will host an Easter wine tasting on Saturday April 4 from 4-7pm.  The selection of wines are meant to compliment traditional Easter fare.

Easter is Sunday April 5 and many of your favorite CT restaurants are holding special brunches and dinners in honor of the holiday.  Here are places with Easter happenings.
