Weekly Nibble: New Salumeria, $1 Oysters, Food Truck Festivals, Lobster Bakes + More!

Lugano Wine Bar & Salumeria is now open!  Greenwich’s latest restaurant and bar is currently open Monday thru Saturday for Lunch, Happy Hour & Dinner. Sundays are soon to follow with a weekend brunch.  Find them at 1392 East Putnam Avenue Old Greenwich, CT 06870. 

Eli’s Tavern in Milford offers $1 oysters on Tuesday nights and a $20 prix fixe menu for ladies on Wednesday night.  

This week, Fairfield Cheese Co. offers “Cheese 101.”  Learn about different kinds of cheeses, cheese-making, and more… with a little wine too!  The class comes to Fairfield on Wednesday July 8 from 7-9pm and Greenwich on Thursday July 9 from 7-9pm.  It costs $45 per person. 

The Riverfest Food Truck Festival will take place in Hartford’s Mortensen Riverfront Plaza July 9, 10, and 11. Enjoy the best of mobile cuisine, live entertainment, and fireworks. 

Cocktails! Cupcakes!  Two favorite treats come together at Nixs in Hartford on Thursday July 9.  The summer soiree goes from 5-9pm and features Amsterdam vodka cocktails, sweets from Nora's Cupcakes, hor d'oeuvres, and more.  The night is courtesy of VAz Media, an organization created with the idea for women to come out and celebrate themselves and that works with charities across CT.  Admission is $25 and part of the proceeds will go to benefit the CT Chapter of the MS Society. 

On Friday July 9, Stamford’s very own Half Full Brewery will hold another installation of their famous “Open House.” For just $15, you can partake in open taps, corn hole, life-sized Jenga, and more.  There is no food there, but you are encouraged to bring your own.

Sunday July 12 is Bastille Day and 109 Wine & Cheese in Ridgefield is commemorating it with a French style barbecque.  There will be French wines, a country French buffet in the garden, and music.It starts at 5pm and costs $90 per person. 

On Sunday July 12, 2015 Jonathan Edwards Winery will host a full lobster bake with dinner and dancing to the band Sugar.  It will last from 6:30-9:30pm and costs $80 per person.  Be sure to purchase your tickets early- the event is very popular!  Call 860-535-0202 for tickets and information.

Stratford’s Two Roads Brewery is holding a Bikes 2 Beers ride on Sunday July 12.  Start at Greenwich Bikes in Greenwich at 11:30 and finish at The Gingerman, where participants can receive $1 off Two Roads beers beginning at 2pm.  Choose a 22 mile ride or a 10 mile ride.  Entry is $10 and comes with a T-shirt and coupon for Two Roads.
