Nibble: CT Food Events For Week Of May 13-21

The Cottage has debuted “The Cottage Omakase Menu” to highlight Chef Brian’s appreciation for Japanese cuisine. Offered on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s, the $45 multi-course menu will feature ingredients from both The Hickories (Ridgefield) & Millstone (Wilton) Farms.  The menu will change daily.

Kawa Ni in Westport is hosting a Sake Dinner on May 16th, 6:30 pm featuring 5 courses and dessert with 6 paired sakes. 

Friday May 19 is the “Swirl, Sniff, Sip, Savor” Wine Tasting Fundraiser to benefit the Sunshine Kids.  From 6-9pm, guests can taste wine, beer, and bourbon and snack on small bites at Ridgefield Parks & Recreation.  Tickets are $40 per person. 

SKAL Restaurant Group, the parent company of The Ginger Man and The Cask Republic, is celebrating 10 years in South Norwalk!  To commemorate the occasion, Cask Republic is hosting an anniversary party on Thursday, May 18 from 5-10pm.  For $30, participants can enjoy a pig roast, two side dishes, one beverage, and a raffle ticket for gift card giveaways.  10% of the ticket proceed sales will benefit the Norwalk-based non-profit, STAR, Inc.

Panera now delivers!  Additionally, during the month of May, for every delivery Panera makes to you, they’ll donate a meal to a senior in Connecticut through Meals on Wheels.

Viceroy Publik House is now open in Stamford!  Located downtown, the high energy English pub setting features London curry, pakoras and pints, and edgy live music.  Find them at 211 Summer Street. 

Jones Family Farms’ Sip & Savor series continues on May 18 with “Out of Africa.”  Mango Mojo, Grilled beef skewers over rice pilau, and Passion fruit cake are all on the menu. 

The Beer Garden at Shippan Landing kicks off its season with a CountryFest on May 19 with Hapa, Nosh Hound, and Band Burger.  The bar opens at 4pm and live music starts at 7pm. 

The New Canaan Food Revolution, inspired by Jamie Oliver, returns for the fourth year on Saturday May 20!  Visit the Pop Up Park from 10am-12pm for food and entertainment for all ages.  This year, children AND adults can participate in The Bravery Passport food trail and earn stamps by tasting foods at local restaurants. 

Asylum Distillery is celebrating one year of Asylum Spirits at the distillery!  Join them for a celebration on May 20 from 4-7pm including samples of their spirits, tastes of drinks made with them, and local food. 

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center invites you to the Spring on the Farm Festival Weekend from May 20-21.  The weekend features crafts, live music, family friendly activities, and an assortment of food trucks with food for purchase.  It costs $5 for members and $10 for non-members. 

Two Road’s popular Gathering at the Bines Beer Festival returns on Saturday May 20 from 12-8pm.  This year includes two sessions with local and national breweries, food trucks, music, and more. 

Lake Compounce hosts its first ever food truck festival May 20-21.  From 11am-7pm, join them for craft brews and foods from popular mobile eats. 

Butchers & Bakers in Farmington will kick off their Sunday Brunch with a Mother's Day Brunch on May 14.  Options include a continental breakfast buffet, a la carte items, bottomless cocktails, and more.

The Silo at Hunt Hill Farm presents “Art of Feast of Art” in their gallery from May 13-June 2.  The exhibit is a collaboration of four artists: Jack Rosenberg, Elizabeth McDonald, Ann Mallory and Judy Jackson.  The paintings and ceramics align with the Silo’s enduring food equities.
