Nibble: CT Food Events for Week of July 16-23

Milford Restaurant Week returns July 17-23.  Restaurants like Plan b, Bin 100, Bridge House, Stonebridge, and Fratelli’s will offer prix fixe menus.  Dinners will be $20.95 or $27.85 and in select restaurants a prix fixe lunch menu will be offered at $14.95. 

Meanwhile, Taste of Hartford will take place from July 17-30.  Participating restaurants throughout the Greater Hartford area, like Capital Grille, Coyote Flaco, On20, and Ted’s Montana Grill, will offer special multi-course, price-fixed menus. 

Visit Bloodroot in Bridgeport for a special Ethiopian menu on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while supplies last.

Quattro’s Italian Restaurant in Guilford invites you to experience a Taste of Latin America on Tuesday July 18 at 6pm.  Chefs will compete against home cooks to create the best dishes inspired by Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Carribean.  A $40 ticket includes an open bar for beer, wine, and Quattrros famous sangria as well as tastings of the food. 

Millwright’s invites you to a Summer Wine Night on Wednesday July 19 from 6-7:30pm.  Jason Sobocinski of Caseus & Mystic Cheese Company will pair cheeses with 5 ultimate summer vinos.  Stay for dinner and get 10% off your bill. 

Shearwater Coffee Bar Presents a Latte Art Throwdown on Thursday July 20 at 8pm.  Participants will be creating the same latte art design which will be judged by a panel of 3 based on contrast, detail, and symmetry.  Entry is $10 and watching is free!  Call (203) 955-1098 or email ed@shearwatercoffeeroasters.com to sign up.

The Block at Waypointe in downtown Norwalk launches “Wine Down at the Block.” The $25 ticketed event offers live music, light bites, signature cocktails from Sedona Taphouse, Colony Grill and Barcelona Wine Bar. 

Pisco is a classic Peruvian liquor made from grapes.  Learn more about it at Pacifico on July 20.  An expert sommelier, or “Pisquero,” will teach you the basic over tapas starting at 7pm. 

The Fez in Stamford has new summer hours.  They will be closed Sunday night and Monday. Join them for dinner Tuesday through Saturday and lunch Thursday through Saturday.  Catch their ½ price wine specials on Tuesday and don’t forget about Sunday brunch from 12-3pm.

Quattro Pazzi Café, with locations in Stamford and Fairfield, has debuted more dishes to create a new summer menu.

On Saturday July 22, embark on a culinary tour of New Haven.  The tour, hosted by Stephen Fries, Food Columnist and Professor of Hospitality Management at Gateway Community College, will take participants to 9 popular eateries.  The tour starts at 10:45am and lasts approximately 3.5 hours.  Tickets are $64. 

The Connecticut Wine Festival unfolds at the Goshen Fairgrounds on July 22 and 23.  15 of Connecticut’s top wineries will showcase their wines.  There will also be local restaurants, vendors, a wine seminar, grape stomp, live music, and more. 

Brews & BBQ returns to Ives Concert Park in Danbury on Saturday July 22 with BBQ, craft beer and live music.  This year’s headliner is The Spin Doctors!  Tickets are $15 ahead of time or $20 at the door, and the event runs from 3-9pm. 

The Nook private dining room will experiment with a new format on Sunday July 23.  Join them for classic Italian served family style from 7-9pm.  The dinner, which costs $60 per person, will include salad, pasta, an entrée, side, and dessert.
