Nibble: CT Food Events For Week of September 24-30

Through the end of September, “eat for relief” at the Stamford and Ridgefield locations of Bareburger.  $7 from each Pig Out Combo, "Pig Out Combo,” a double wild boar burger and a Texas Shiner Bock Beer for $20, will go to the JJ Watt's Flood Relief Foundation jjwfoundation.org. 

On Wednesday September 27 from 6-8pm, Prime Stamford will host a fundraiser for Kids in Crisis.  For $35 ($50 at the door), enjoy two hours of passed hors d’oeurves, cocktails, and live jazz music.  100% of the proceeds of this event will go to Kids in Crisis. The Newtown Chamber of Commerce and Café Xpresso invite you to a pizza social on September 26 from 5:30-8:30pm.  The cost is $10 per person, and guests can network while enjoying soft drinks, coffees, food & desserts. Feel free to BYOB!

Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in Fairfield is hosting a Mezcal Dinner on Wednesday, September 27 at 7pm.  The Mezcal will be paired with Southwestern-Inspired dishes, including Scallop Ceviche, Shrimp Corn Soup, Cedar Plank Roasted Maple-Chimayo Glazed Salmon, Pomegranate Molasses-Ancho Glazed Rack Lamb, and Mexican-Chocolate Pot de Crème, to showcase and complement the natural flavors of the spirit.  Cost is $65/per person, not including tax & tip.  Reservations are required can can be made by emailing events@geronimobarandgrill.com or calling Andrey at 203.955.1643.

The Spread is spreading the love to first responders.  On Wednesdays, nurses, EMS, firefighters, and police officers can stop by for specials.

On Wednesday September 27, Concepts for Adaptive Learning (CfAL) invites you to its Annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction Fundraiser at Anthony’s Ocean View.  The event includes wine, food, a silent auction, and music by Nick Fradiani Sr.  Proceeds go to help CfAL provide computer training and gently-used computers to disadvantaged New Haven families. 

The Annual Apple Harvest Festival will be held in Southington September 29 through October 1.  The festival features live music and entertainment, food, contests, crafts, children’s activities, carnival rides, and more. From September 29-October 1, kids eat free at On the Border locations nationwide.  To take advantage of the deal, all you have to do is order an adult entrée.  On the Border has a Connecticut location in Rocky Hill.

On Friday September 29, the Greenwich Wine Society presents a “Wine Lover’s Cruise.”  Join fellow wine lovers for an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres while taking in Long Island Sound.  Boarding begins at 5:30pm and the evening concludes at 8pm.  Prices begin at $85.

On Saturday, September 30, the 6th annual Harbor Brew Fest will take place at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.  General Admission will begin at 1pm and go until 5pm. There is also a chance to participate in a Brewer's Special, which includes exclusive access to the Brewer's Beer Garden with limited release beers. 

The 17th Annual Ambler Farm Day will take place on Sunday, October 1, from 12–4 pm.  Families can try the apple slingshot, visit with farm animals, make-your-own-scarecrow, take a hay ride, and much more!  The cost is $20 per family (or car load). Visit amblerfarm.org for more information.

The Fairfield Food Truck Festival will take place on October 1 at Jennings Beach.  Proceeds go to benefit the Fairfield Library.  Admission is $5 and the event lasts from 12-7pm. 

Stew Leonards is ready for fall!  This week, they are offering “A is for Apple Culinary Classes” for kids and toddlers, pumpkin carving, autumn cooking classes in their Danbury and Newington locations.

The New England Chowdafest is Sunday October 1!!  Taste and judge chowders from over 40 award winning chefs and restaurants across New England!  The competition goes down at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.
