Restaurant Seafood Stamford Outdoor Dining Waterfront Sushi Dessert Cocktails Prime Stamford: Beautiful (& Delicious) Waterfront Dining + New Cabana Bar (sponsored post) Jessica Ryan June 03, 2018 Last summer Prime opened its doors in Stamford’s Harbor Point area. The stunning restaurant boasts exquisite views of the Long Island Sound and the Rippowam River. Removable tempered glass walls offer guests unparalleled views, thus making it a perfect dining destination no matter the season and an absolute must during the summertime. Inside the restaurant, the space’s elegant yet relaxed interior offers a New England-inspired decor reminiscent of Cape Cod and the Massachusetts islands. Dining al fresco at Prime is an experience to remember. Their newly redesigned Cabana Bar is destined to be the “it” place to be this summer. In addition to the many events that will be held there this summer, the Cabana can be reserved for private functions, accommodating parties up to 50. The space itself has been updated with a custom bar from the Vermont islands of white solid core and backlit translucent white face panels integrate the bar with the rest of the décor - soft grays and blues. The patio update features eclectic bar stools from Knoll as well as black wicker furniture that seamlessly integrate the interior’s classic waterfront look with that of the patio. The bar’s warmly lit “window” feature softens the glow amongst twinkling lights. With dinner seating on the new patio as well as along the deck, and a new “Docktails” menu created specifically with this space in mind marks Prime Stamford is the ultimate destination for luxurious waterfront dining. The Cabana Launch Party will take place on Sunday, June 10 from 4-6pm, and promises to be a memorable event.Prime Stamford is one of nine restaurants within the Bohlsen Restaurant Group (BRG). Each location offers an experience, cuisine and style that is truly unique. Prime Stamford is the company’s first venture in Connecticut. BRG also recognizes the importance of hospitality, with the understanding that it takes a team to offer the highest standards of service and excellence. Location, decor and service will only take you so far, the star attraction here is without a doubt, the food. On Friday I had the opportunity to lunch at Prime where I was able to enjoy the experience first-hand. While you sip on a glass of wine, beer or a drink from their world class cocktail program, you can enjoy some of the best oysters in the area from The Oyster Bar at Prime, a new addition to the restaurant’s dining program. Along with cocktails with names like Murphy’s Law, Blame it on the Aperol and Babylon Express we dined on Blue Points, Kumamoto, Merry, Raspberry Point, Big Cove and Fanny Bay Oysters. When dining at Prime do bring an appetite. The Primers are indeed tempting. We sampled a refreshing and astonishingly beautiful Watermelon Salad with shaved macadamia nuts, heirloom tomatoes, figs, ricotta and chive oil. The Baby Wedge with crumbled bacon, blue cheese, tomato, red onion and buttermilk ranch was lighter than I had anticipated. The Shrimp and Lobster Wonton, seared in a hoisin glaze with miso mustard. Crispy on the outside, and pillowy soft on the inside, bites of heaven. Another must have is the Gnocchi Parmesan with White Truffle Sauce. Decadent in the best sense of the word. Melt in your mouth deliciousness. The servings are indeed generous and there’s plenty to go around if you want to share with a friend. Whether as an appetizer or a meal, if you’re a sushi person, those here are not to be missed. For those of you doing the no-carb, no-nothing thing, The Butterfly Roll, a no rice option, made from tuna, avocado, cucumber, ginger, and chili sauce allows you to to focus on the clean, fresh flavors. We also enjoyed The Montauk Roll, made from spicy tuna, avocado, tempura crunch, topped with lobster, yuzu mayo, eel sauce and The Stamford Landing with shrimp, avocado, topped with spicy tuna, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. While all were fabulous, it was perhaps the Green Lotus that stole the show. Wrapped in thinly sliced avocado pieces, once cut open, the round green sushi reveals a delicate balance of lump crab, tuna, Asian pear and a tempura crunch. The act of eating this one is as delightful as the flavors themselves. Perhaps they ought to rename it The Bomb, because this truly was ‘da bomb!’Perhaps you’re neither a sushi or seafood person, not to fret there’s a full menu with plenty of other options to choose from including fish, burgers, steaks and chicken. Those with a sweet tooth will not be disappointed. In fact, these desserts will make a sweets lover out of everyone. Perhaps try the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with candied macadamia nuts, tropical fruit, caramel sauce. The cake itself is airy with a very distinct vanilla essence that perfectly complements the mélange of nuts, fruit and caramel sauce. But it there’s one dessert that outperforms, it is without a doubt the S’mores Sundae for 2 made with graham cracker, marshmallow, warm fudge brownie, chocolate sauce, and topped with vanilla bean gelato. This desert is chocolate, decadent perfection. Although it’s made for two, if you’re eating with me you’ll have to get your own spoon… and your own dessert! If you’re looking for me this summer, I’ll be outside on the Patio with a glass of Prosecco and my very own S’mores Sundae. I hope to see you all next Sunday June 10th, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the launch of the newly renovated Cabana Bar!Prime Stamford 78 Southfield Ave, Stamford, CT (203) 817-0700
