On July 30, Stew Leonard’s in Newington presents a “Marvelous Macarons Day Camp for Kids.”  Kid ages 6-12 can learn the different techniques used to create this delicate and popular French dessert.  Prepare homemade vanilla, Nutella, and strawberry cream macarons from scratch.  (Parents note: Nuts will be used in the class).   

Bar Sugo will host a Mixology Class on Saturday August 4 at 12:30pm. Join veteran Mixologist Seth Hiravy as he guides you through the art of stirring, shaking, and straining your way to being a cocktail guru.  The class is 1 1/2 hours long and includes snacks and, of course, cocktails.  Limited availability, call or email to book your spot.

Pieology Pizzeria, located at the Stamford Town Center, recently introduced Gardein Vegan Meats and Daiya Vegan Cheese as toppings.  They are showcasing these new options at their Vegan Happy Hour on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 5-7pm.

Mill Street Bar & Table presents a Back 40 Farm Harvest Dinner on Wednesday August 1.  Back 40 Farmers Alexis and Enya will team up with Chef Ian to use farm fresh ingredients.  The first seating takes place at 5:30pm and includes 3 courses for $65 and a second takes place at 8pm and includes 4 courses for $85.  To reserve, emai hospitality@millstreetct.com

South Windsor Youth & Family Services presents “Chef In Training,” an interactive cooking class series for children ages 7-11 years old and their parents.  It takes place over the course of two days: August: 1st and 8th.  Classes are held in the kitchen at the South Windsor Community Center, 150 Nevers Rd.   

Hadley + Occum’s next installation of their Farm Dinner Series takes place on Thursday August 2 and features chefs from Artisinal Burger Company.  Tickets are $80 and the event takes place from 7-10pm.   

Clinton Crossing hosts Food Truck Fridays on the first Friday of each month!  In August, check them out on August 3.   Shoppers can enjoy gourmet bites and beverages from area food trucks, including Bumski’s Beer & Wine Bar, Captain Scott’s Lobster Truck, [chow] Barbeque, Food Extrovert, Teriyaki Mania, and more. Attendees can also visit with local organizations.  The series will continue through November.

On behalf of National Oyster Day on August 5, bartaco is bringing back the Crispy Oyster Taco, which will be available August 3-10 at your local bartaco. This taco has crispy wild gulf oysters that are soaked in buttermilk, dredged in cornmeal (seasoned masa) and served in a tangy oyster sauce. As with all bartaco tacos, it’s available in a 4-inch corn tortilla or bibb lettuce shell (+$.25), and topped with cilantro.

Prime 16 in Orange is hosting a Meet and Greet luncheon with Brazilian World Cup soccer player Douglas Costa from 12-2pm on Saturday August 4. He will be signing autograph and taking photos.

The Glastonbury Food Truck Festival will take place Saturday August 4 from 11am-8pm & Sunday August 5 from 11am-6pm. There will be 20+ food Trucks participating along with additional vendors of all kinds. August 5 is National Oyster Day and Rosedale Farm & Vineyards invites you to a traditional Oyster Festival featuring Chef Steve Michalewicz of Max Catering and Events as well as the teams from Max's Oyster Bar and Max Fish. Enjoy live music by Take 2, and slurp some oysters. This event has two seatings - choose a 1:00PM or 3:00PM reservation time at checkout.   

Green & Tonic is mixing up brunch with their new bowls.  Choose from an “Acai” Bowl with Acai and Banana, a “Milky Way Bowl” with Almond and Cocoa, or a “Zenergy” Bowl with Matcha and Coconut.  

It’s Harry Potter’s birthday on July 31 (yup, now you know!) and Tigin Irish Pub in Stamford is celebrating with a special addition of Trivia Night!  Tigin will again be transformed into Hogwarts with your favorite specialty drinks like Butter Beer, prizes, and other goodies.  Costumes encouraged of course and extra points will be given for the best team name.

Yes, you can eat Taco Bell and stay on track with your fitness goals!  The fast food chain has launched a “Power Menu,” which specializes in high protein, big flavor offerings.   

On Saturday August 4, Washington Prime SoNo is presents its annual all-you-can-eat Crawfish Broil.  It lasts from 2-5pm, and for $25 you can feast on dishes like sweet corn, sausage, and more!  On Sunday, join them for Prime Brunch at 11:30am.   

The New Haven Craft Brew Race will be held on Saturday, August 4 in Edgewood Park.    The race is open to beer lovers of all speeds and skill levels.  A 3-hour post-race celebration includes sampling of more than 30 breweries, live music, and food trucks. Beer festival only tickets are also available for those not wishing to participate in the 5k.
