Nibble: CT Food Events For Week Of August 5-12

Join Chefs Brian Lewis and Christian Wilki at The Cottage as they prepare a special prix fixe weekday four-course menu celebrating their favorite farms and summer ingredients for $45.  The special offering will be available Tuesday - Thursday all Summer long.

Summer Soiree Dinners with Chef Geoff Lazlo continue on August 9 at Millstone Farm.  Dinners will start at 6pm with a cocktail hour featuring a signature cocktail infused with herbs from the farm and passed hors d’oeuvres. Then, a three course dinner will be served family style while guests dine al fresco. 

Rosedale Farms & Vineyards presents “BBQ, Bluegrass & Brews” on August 9 from 6:30 - 9:30pm.  The evening begins with a reception.  Next, head out for a tour of the farm.  The evening concludes with an al fresco dinner cooked from scratch with ingredients sourced daily from local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen.  The theme is BBQ, prepared on the farm by Max’s Oyster Bar’s Executive Chef Hunter Morton.  Tickets are $99. 

August 6 is “Silly Circus Day Camp for Kids” at Stew Leonards Newington.  Join them as they prepare circus treats like homemade salted pretzels, snow cones, corn dogs, fried Oreos, and cotton candy milkshakes! A complimentary snack will be provided. Ages 6-12.   

Visit Ambler Farm Saturdays from 9:30 – Noon for “Family Saturdays,” a free event.  Play with the animals and have your questions answered knowledgeable student apprentices.  All that fun can stir up quite the appetite! Stick around for mouth-watering watermelon on the house (or farm rather) available around 10:30am each Saturday.

On Thursday August 9, Fairfield Cheese Company and Wakeman Town Farm are teaming up “Ricotta Making: Celebrating Summer's Bounty.”  They’ll teach you how to make ricotta and pair it with wine and seasonal produce.  It costs $75 per person and runs from 7-9pm.   

Wakeman Town Farm also invites families to the farm on Saturdays.  From 9:30-10:30am, kids can watch Farmer Corey feed and train the animals.  Chat with a knowledgeable master gardener between 11am and 1pm.  Stop by the wonderful organic farm stand, open every Saturday from 10-2.

Division West Bistro & Bar serves Happy Hour weekdays from 4-7pm.  Visit them at the bar for food and drink specials.

The Shoreline Wine Festival returns August 11 from 12-7 and 12 from 12-6pm! It will celebrate fine wines from CT Wineries and Vineyards from all over the state.  There will also be local vendors and food.  It takes place at Bishops Orchards.   

The Perfect Pear in Chester will have a demo in Canning and Preserving on Saturday August 11 at 4pm.  Learn more about the technique and watch as they show you how to make a jam.   

ARTISAN in West Hartford is hosting a New England-Style "Artisan Lobster Clam Bake" on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 4-7PM.  The Lobster Clam Bake will include a whole lobster (1/2 lobster for kids), clams, potatoes, corn, potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, seasonal greens, cornbread, and local strawberry shortcake for dessert.  Beverages include Artisan's own private label Rosé, ice cold beer, and soft drinks. This event is family friendly and open to the public. There will be music and lawn games too.

Now at Bar Rosso in Stamford, come brunch at the bar and enjoy complimentary Rose Saturdays & Sundays from 11AM - 3PM.

On Sunday August 12, visit the Wilton Food Truck Festival, presented by the Trackside Teen Center of Wilton.  Enjoy delicious food from a variety of 23 different food trucks, craft beers, live music, activities for kids, local vendors, and more.   

Fast-Casual Chain B.GOOD with a locations in Connecticut, is now available for delivery via DoorDash and during the month of August for every order placed B.GOOD will donate one meal to Feeding America. One Dollar helps provide at least 10 meals to those in need secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.
