Nibble: Tasty CT Food Events for January 7-13

AMG Catering kicks of its Winter Classes with “A Tribute to Anthony Bourdain – Global Journey of Appetizers” on Tuesday January 8.  The menu includes Shrimp and chorizo “bites,” Tuna “poke,” Greek meatballs with Tzatziki sauce, and Mini Jamaican beef patties.  It costs $90 per person and runs from 7-9 pm. 

The State House in New Haven hosts a Lagunitas Tap Takeover on Tuesday January 8.  There will be DJs, beer, swag, and a band at 9pm.  No cover!

Beginning January 9, B.GOOD will roll out its new winter seasonal menu.  It includes a Citrus & Avocado Salad, Maple Roasted Carrots and a Mocha Protein Smoothie.  The menu, which offers a mix of light and fresh options and better-for-you spins on comfort classics, will be available at all B.GOOD locations, including the ones in Fairfield and Greenwich.

Stew Leonard’s of Newington will have a Rainbow Madness Culinary Class for Toddlers on Monday January 7 and again on Saturday January 12.  Kids ages 2-5 will make rainbow cupcakes and rainbow marshmallow dream bars. Along with that, each child will paint a rainbow canvas to take home. 

Oak Haven Table in New Haven presents its 5th Annual Pappy Van Winkle Game Dinner on Thursday January 10.  Chef Kevin has created a 6 course tasting menu to complement 1 ounce pours Weller 12 Year Old, Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Old, Van Winkle Lot B Special Reserve 12 Year Old, Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 15 Year Old, and Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20 Year Old.  Guests will also be able to purchase any additional pours for 50% off. 

Chop Shop Cooking Classes continue with “I’ve Got A Beef With You!” on Thursday January 10.  The menu includes Skirt Steak Quesadillas with Caramelized Onions & Corn Red Pepper Salsa, Coconut Lemongrass Beef Skewers with Pineapple Salsa, Beef Stroganoff with Egg Noodles, and Korean Short Rib Bulgogi with Lettuce Cups & Asian Slaw.

The Lace Factory in Deep River invites you to a Terra d’Oro Wine Dinner on Friday January 11 at 6:30pm.  The evening begins with hors d’oeuvres and continues with 4 courses.  A guest speaker from trinchero Family Estates will guide you through the pairings.  It costs $55 per person, plus tax and tip, and reservations are required.  Call 860-526-4445.

On Wednesday January 9, Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill is showing appreciation to Law Enforcement, First Responders, and EMTs.  Their Fairfield and New Haven locations, will be offering a complimentary Geronimo Margarita by showing a business card, badge, or other professional item.

Shell & Bones Oyster Bar and Grill will be donating 10% of all food sales to the Boys and Girls Club of New Haven on Wednesday January 9.

On Friday January 11, The Perfect Pear in Chester is showing you how to create Vegetarian Soups.The menu features Ethiopian Squash Soup with Coconut Milk, Spinach and Watercress Soup, and Zucchini soup with croutons.  This demo will be led by Chef Amelia Lord, a private chef, cooking teacher, and food writer. 

Chateau Le Gari in Marlborough presents a January Brasato Wine Dinner on Friday January 11.  It runs from 6:30-9pm and costs $50 per person. 

The Norwalk Seaport Association is proud to present the inaugural “Ring in The New Year,” an evening featuring the Music on the Hill Handbell Ensemble benefiting the historic Sheffield Lighthouse.  The event takes place on Saturday January 19 and the Unitarian Church in Westport from 7pm to 10pm.  Tickets to this event are limited and cost $100 each.   They include shoreline appetizers, beer, wine and, champagne.  www.Seaport.org
