I wouldn’t have expected the steady stream of customers this past Wednesday afternoon at Milkcraft, all lining up for nitrogen infused ice cream despite the chilly temps outside. And yet, after tasting my P B & J Roasted Banana in the signature Bubblecone, I understand the customers’ urgency. Who needs hot chocolate when one can delight in these fresh, chef driven flavors honoring the winter season? The Bourbon Breakfast and Smokin’ Choco de Leche and will hold me over until the summer just fine.

Rejoice, New Haven residents. You can now enjoy Milkcraft in New Haven! The New Haven location (280 Crown Street) is the largest of the locations to date, at 1500 square feet. Milkcraft®’s signature bohemian style design elements are very much in play here, including a mash-up of diverse lounge furnishings, a warming fireplace, bookshelf-lined walls, tech amenities, and an eclectic wall mural which conveys the Milkcraft® mission statement and social culture. Unique to the New Haven location is the addition of soft serve ice cream. Consumers can look forward to even more offerings being introduced over the coming months.

The GM proudly told me about the process by which each small batch order is made, using the freshest local and organic ingredients whenever possible. Watching my flavor made, he explained how careful one has to be with the liquid nitrogen, which is negative 300 degrees, but creates the smoothest ice cream imaginable. According to Mainiero, the most popular flavors are the Cookie Butter Blue and the S’mores Campfire, both of which can be enjoyed on the patio complete with toasty seating around the fire pit.

The signature Bubblecone is Milkcraft’s fluffy version of a homemade waffle cone, and their Creamee bun is better than any doughnut I’ve devoured. These treats are the base to the creamy ice cream, and there are toppings galore to take it up another notch. Each order is presented like a work of art, beautiful to admire, hence the need for the selfie wall. But don’t wait too long to dig in because they’re even better to taste.

Milkcraft can be found in Fairfield , West Hartford and now, New Haven. And to satisfy your wee hour cravings, it will be open certain nights until 2am. Locations are being scouted for Greenwich and Westport, but until then, head for your creamy fix to one of their locations – or hire the Milktruck to come serve you and your friends. Now that would be the cherry on top!

Complementing the brick and mortar Milkcraft® locations is the brand’s popular Milktruck®, a state of the art freight liner truck housing a Milkcraft® store on wheels, the only one of its kind in the world. A true show-stopper at any event, the Milktruck® produces the exact same rich and creamy, creative, flavorful, and fun experience that customers have grown to enjoy and expect.
