Features Restaurant Openings Greenwich Celebrity Chef Veteran Chefs Drew Nieporent & Stephen Lewandowski To Bring New Concept To Gabriele's in Greenwich CTbites Team October 09, 2019 This just in…A star studded team of Industry veterans will be bringing new life to Gabriele’s Restaurant in Greenwich CT. The Church Street staple will be undergoing a redesign in early 2020 that will bring a new concept and cuisine to downtown Greenwich. The partners on the venture include Stephen Lewandowski of Harlan Restaurant Group and Dana Cifone, the current head of operations, and formerly of Starr Restaurants, The One Group NYC, and Douro of Greenwich. Stephen will be working with his longtime colleague and friend Drew Nieporent of Myriad Restaurant Group best known for Nobu, Tribeca Grill, and Bâtard, who will be acting as an advisor throughout the project."It's getting to be time for a new vibe," said Cifone. "In my 2 years here, we've rebuilt parts of the restaurant you don't see, like our upstairs and event space. Now we get to partner with industry experts to create a newer look and feel. Don't expect us to give up on steaks and guest favorites, but we're going to reinvent the experience significantly."Recognized for its classic styling, an offering of prime steaks, chops and seafood, and a wide selection of fine wine, Gabriele's will remain open through the remainder of the year as the new stakeholders prepare for updates in late winter to early spring. "We're incredibly excited to begin working in such an excellent location close to downtown. Our energy right now is focused on operations while planning the new concept behind the scenes. It's a great opportunity for us to learn from our guests so we can create something the community will love and enjoy." Stephen Lewandowski said in a statement. "This transition period offers guests a chance to come into Gabriele's and enjoy the restaurant as it's known and loved it. They can also feel a little bit of the excitement for the new concept as we test subtle changes and possibly sample new menu items." said Lewandowski. Both Stephen and Dana have begun working at the restaurant to focus on catering and events through the busy fall and winter holiday season while they make preliminary plans for the refresh. Local architect Richard Granoff has been enlisted for interior design and tasked with bringing a bright and communal experience that matches the character and feel of downtown Greenwich into the space. "We're still working on the menu and interior design but hope to announce that information shortly. Plans already include adding a lively lunch and weekend brunch component in the new year, but we're most excited about broadening the catering and event services" said Cifone. The group plans to make future announcements once the concept and menu are complete. For now, they're asking friends and guests to enjoy the fine food and wine that Gabriele's is known for.
