Flat Bread Co pizza in South Windsor is helping dogs in need!  On Tuesday April 30 proceeds from each pizza purchase will go to a local rescue.  There will be raffles, swag, and an information table.

On Wednesday, May 1 from 6-8 PM, Norwalk Now and the CT Women’s Business Development Council will host a networking and panel discussion event in celebration of National Women-Owned Business Day. The evening will begin with a networking reception followed by a spirited discussion with some of Norwalk’s most dynamic women in business. 

For the month of May, the Fresh Market will have a Meals on a Mission Fund Drive.  Guests will have the chance to round up their total at the register to the nearest dollar, or to donate another dollar amount.  All proceeds from the fund drive will go to Feeding America.

On Thursday May 2, Back 40 Kitchen hosts a Long Meadow Ranch Wine Dinner.  Family owned and operated, Long Meadow Ranch crafts estate-grown wine, olive oil, grass-fed beef, produce, eggs, and honey.  The evening features 5 courses paired with their wines.

Fairfield Cheese Company is celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary!  Join them this weekend for their festivities:

• On Friday, May 3 from 6-9pm, participate in The Loss of Deliciousness: An Evening with Mateo Kehler of Jasper Hill Farm.  This class will be followed by a Jasper Hill Farm cheese reception and open bar. All profit from the class will be donated to The Oldways Cheese Coalition.   

• On Saturday, May 4, from 12-3pm enjoy their Anniversary Cheese Fest.  Meet the producers, enjoy a spectacular cheese tasting and wine from their neighbors at Harry’s.  10% of cheese sales will be donated to The American Cheese Education Foundation

MGM Springfield will kick off a weekend of festivities on Friday, May 3 with the launch of “Food Truck Fridays” and “Derby de Mayo Weekend” on Armory Square.  Every week throughout the spring and summer, “Food Truck Fridays” will bring local eats to downtown Springfield from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The culinary bonanza will include three original concept food trucks from MGM Springfield, serving tacos, gelato and Asian-inspired dishes. A variety of other popular food trucks from across the region, such as Wahlburgers, Hot Oven Cookies and Say Cheese, will be offered on a rotating schedule.

The Roger Sherman Inn will host its second annual Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday, May 4th at 5:30PM.  Tickets can be purchased for $55 on the phone, in person or online via Facebook or Eventbrite prior to April 30, 2019.  Admission includes a Mint Julep on the lawn at 5:30, a pig roast and grand buffet, live music by Nick Depuy and Daniel Bloch as well as Derby fashion by vineyard vines.  The race will be broadcast on the big screen at 6:50PM.  At the Derby party, the Roger Sherman Inn will introduce spring cocktails featuring Kentucky Derby partners G.h. Mumm champagne and Makers Mark bourbon.

Come celebrate the season at Wakeman Town Farm’s Sweet Spring Open House, on Saturday May 4 from 11am to 2pm.  (Rain date May 5).  There will be exhibitors, kids’ crafts, a scavenger hunt, story time, farm animals, Dough Girls Pizza, sheep shearing, and dancing around the May pole!  You can also register for summer camp and kids’ programs while you’re having fun.  Free entrance. No registration required.

Sign of the Whale in Stamford hosts its 5th Annual Derby Day Party on Saturday May 4.  Join them all day for mint julips, beer and liquor samples, and more.

The Hockanum Brew Fest takes place on Saturday May 4 at the New England Motorcycle Museum in Vernon.  Starting at 1pm, with taste a variety of craft beers and eat from local food trucks. Tickets are $40; designated driver tickets are $20.

The 10th annual New Canaan Dog Days presented by Pet Pantry Warehouse will be hosted at the New Canaan Nature Center on Saturday, May 4. This year's event is a celebration of dogs and features a marketplace filled with quality food, treats, toys, arts, crafts, and local services.
