The Meatball Shop Opens in Westport June 25th: It's Ball Time People!

Picture this: you’re walking down Westport’s Saugatuck River Bridge on a beautiful summer evening. You’re feeling Italian, but you don’t want pizza. You’re craving some meat, but you don’t want steak. Then you see it. The sign you’ve been looking for since you stopped in to one of their ball-licious locations in New York City. “The Meatball Shop” stands proudly along the river, and you thank your lucky stars that a small town like Westport has been blessed with this treasure of a restaurant.

This fantasy will become a reality for locals this Tuesday, as The Meatball Shop will finally be opening the doors to its Westport location. With seven additional locations– one in D.C. and six in New York– The Meatball Shop has already made a name for itself with its unique take on meatballs and a variety of other delicious choices. For its Westport location in particular, CEO Adam Rosenbaum said he wanted to create a menu that ensures every palette is satisfied by the end of the meal. Diners, I assure you…It does.

“We wanted to make sure we really expanded the menu to have something for everybody,” Rosenbaum said. “That way, we’re not just a place you only go if you want meatballs. We wanted this to be a go-to place for people when they want to grab a bite, have an amazing drink, and just be casual.”

Whether you want classic meatballs, a sandwich filled with lobster balls, or Mediterranean lamb, this place has it all. You can even make your own bowl, with your choice of meatballs, sauce, and bases. The balls range from spicy heritage pork to salmon, while some of their bases include mixed greens and risotto. Finally, you can top it off with parmesan cream, pesto, classic tomato, and several more sauces.

Additionally, The Meatball Shop’s Westport location will offer several salads, seasonal veggies, sandwiches, and snacks, like crab cake balls, burrata, and even mini buffalo balls. And, lucky for all the adults dining, an entire side of the menu is dedicated to a variety of cocktails, with plenty of whiskey, beer, and wine to enjoy…and let’s not forget the “gin and juice” jello shots.

Though The Meatball Shop has certainly established itself in urban areas, this new restaurant will become its very first suburban location. Because of that, opening up shop here in Westport is even more special to Rosenbaum.

“We’ve been looking to come up here for a while and it’s been a long time coming,” Rosenbaum said. “To us, it feels like the right place to come. Just to be a part of the community is going to be a lot of fun. We have an amazing staff that are all kind of from the surrounding towns, so we have a nice mix of people from around the area. We’re ready to bring the balls to the community.”

With school out and gorgeous weather ahead, make this incredible new location a destination for the whole family in the weeks ahead. After getting a sneak peek into the beautiful space and kitchen, it’s safe to say Rosenbaum and the entire Meatball Shop team will be “bringing the balls” to the Westporters this summer and beyond.
