Features News Events Nibble: Tasty CT Food Events for July 15th – 21st Emma Jane-Doody Stetson July 11, 2019 On July 18, Chef Frederic Kieffer of Artisan Restaurants and L’escale comes to Wakeman Town Farm for an Intimate Chef’s Dinner. Dine on four courses of seasonal, local fare served in Tim's Kitchen. Guests are welcome to stroll the Farm's organic gardens and visit our animals before sitting down. The menu will be inspired by the best of what's available that week from the farm’s farmer/fisherman friends. Tickets are limited and the event is BYOB, so feel free to bring wine, beer or your favorite libations. Glassware and openers provided. Chop Shop Cooking Classes continue on Wednesday July 17 with Summer Party Bites. The menu includes heirloom tomato bruschetta w/feta pesto, lobster quesadillas w/black bean mango salsa, cucumber cups w/feta, roasted peppers and olives, buffalo shrimp w/herb ranch dressing, and BBQ chicken wontons w/bleu cheese dip. Terrain Café invites you to a Farmers' Market Dinner on July 18. Meet them on their patio for an al fresco dinner in collaboration with the Westport Farmers' Market. This three-course, plant-based meal will highlight fresh ingredients from local partners and purveyors to be enjoyed with a view of their newly expanded blooming nursery. Reservations are required. $75 per person. Cost includes three-course dinner, a welcome cocktail, and passed appetizers. The Oyster Club and Stone Acres Farm are teaming up for a Farm and Film Series. On July 18, catch JAWS on the big screen! Join them for a traditional family style clambake dinner before the show, or come by after sunset when the movie starts and grab a lobster roll and drinks. Thursday nights this summer are for the Lei-dies at the Beer Garden at Shippan Landing. It's that time of year again to put on your best Hawaiian shirt and join the Seaport Association at their popular Docktails & Oysters special event at Norm Bloom and Son, a fourth-generation oyster farm in Norwalk on Saturday, July 20 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This popular event celebrates the bounty of our Connecticut coastline and maritime heritage with the treasures of the sea like clams and oysters in bountiful quantities, grown right here in Norwalk. The highlight of this event is the unlimited raw clam and oyster bar. This unique experience is limited to only 200 special guests so be sure to get your ticket early as this event is expected to be a complete sellout. Tickets are $75 online and, at the door if space permits. This event welcomes adults 21 and up only. The Summer Theatre of New Canaan is taking advantage of its new downtown location with a season-long cross promotion that drives theatregoers to participating restaurants for pre- and post-show specials. Ten New Canaan restaurants have signed up to create special happy hour and dining offers on the day of the performance for those attending. In addition, Walter Stewart’s Market is continuing its tradition of offering gourmet-boxed meals for picnics before, or after, the show. The participating restaurants are: Baldanza Café, Cava, elm, Farmer’s Table, Gates, New Canaan Diner, Press Burger, Roger Sherman Inn, South End and Spiga. The Connecticut Wine Festival is an event featuring 11 of Connecticut's top wineries showcasing some of their best wines. With tasting ticket purchase, you will sample up to four of each winery’s top wines. Along with the wineries the festival features several of Connecticut’s specialty food vendors that will be sampling their local products. It takes place on Saturday July 20 from 12 – 7 p.m. Max’s Chef to Farm dinners at Rosedale Farms continue on Sunday July 21 with a Sunflower Festival Luau. Take a stroll through a sunflower maze, sip on a craft cocktail, enjoy live music by Big Kahuna, and sample tasty luau-inspired food selections. Adult ticket price is $59 and all-inclusive except for Eventbrite's processing fee. Ticket price includes wine tasting from the local region, plenty of food, yard games, and good music by Jeff Wieselberg. Cash bar available for wine & cocktails. On Sunday nights this summer, head to Milestone restaurant in Redding for outstanding BBQ. From 4 -8 p.m., they’ll fire up the grills while you enjoy great BBQ, sides, live music, corn hole, and more. Pepe’s Fresh Tomato Pie is pure and simple. Every Sunday in July begins a new week where 25% of all proceeds for that week will go towards a designated charitable organization. On July 21, proceeds will benefit Tommy Fund and Smilow Cancer Hospital, which provide financial support for families of children who receive cancer treatment.
