Features Restaurant Seasonal charity Pizza Homepage Eat Pizza & Fight Childhood Hunger: CTbites Partners with 3 Local Pizzerias to Benefit Filling in the Blanks Andrew Dominick December 01, 2021 This holiday season, CTbites is teaming up with three local pizzerias to benefit the Norwalk-based Filling in the Blanks. All YOU have to do to fight childhood hunger is order the specialty pies created by Letizia’s Pizza, Dave’s Planet Pizza, and Parlor Pizza, and a significant portion of the sale goes directly to help feed children in our community this December. Additionally, CTbites will match the donations gathered from the combined pizza sales. And for our readers…if you post a creative pic on Instagram, tag the restaurant you bought it from and Filling in the Blanks, and the hashtag #pizzaforgood, we’ll pick our favorite and send you a gift card from that establishment. Founded in 2013 by mothers and community activists Shawnee Knight and Tina Kramer, Filling in the Blanks is a nonprofit that provides weekend meals to children and teenagers that come from food insecure households in Fairfield County and into Bedford Hills and Mount Kisco. Filling in the Blanks now distributes meals in 80 schools year-round for youths who are eligible for the free or reduced lunch program and also to the A.L.I.C.E. Population. From NOW through January 1, 2022, Letizia’s Pizza, Dave’s Planet Pizza, and Parlor (in Darien and Wilton) are offering specialty pizza creations to lend a hand to Filling in the Blanks’ mission. Here’s what each spot is offering: Letizia’s Pizza It’s a take on the blue plate special you probably ate growing up! Owners Dennis Letizia, Dave Cook, and Danny Segers came up with broiled pork chops, that are then sliced super thin, with a light drizzle of Mott’s Cinnamon Applesauce for sweetness. Of course, it’s on top of their famous thin crust pizza with a robust tomato sauce and mozzarella. Letizia’s is a frequent supporter of Filling in the Blanks as you may have heard about their supportive efforts with their annual Taco Pizza. Much like they do with that pie, Letizia’s is donating 100% of the proceeds to Filling in the Blanks. The pork chop pizza is available in three sizes, personal ($9.50), small ($12), and large ($16.75). Dave’s Planet Pizza Dave Kuban is no stranger to helping out the community. He’s always amongst the first to volunteer his services whether it’s an individual who needs an assist or if it’s an organization. It’s no surprise he jumped right on board with this effort. Order up Planet’s square pan pizza with spicy Ezzo Pepperoni (yay for ‘roni cups!) with jalapeños. Devour it and do so knowing 50% of the $22.99 price will help feed local area children. Parlor Tim LaBant’s Neapolitan inspired pizza “parlor” didn’t even have to come up with a new pie for this one as they’re always tinkering with flavor combinations. Their menu of wood-fired, always light ‘za just got a seasonal addition in the form of a shaved Brussels sprouts white pie ($18) with onion soubise, chunks of bacon, gorgonzola and fontina cheeses, and pear. Parlor is donating 10% of the sales from this earthy, sweet, salty, cheesy pie, so grab up a couple of these in either Wilton or Darien.
