Classic (and awesome) Hot Chocolate Recipe

Serves 4

8 oz. (1 C. grated) dark chocolate

4 C. half and half

1 Tbsp. brown sugar 

Grate the chocolate into a bowl using a zester, and set aside.

Heat milk and sugar in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir occasionally.

When milk begins to bubble around the edges, stir in chocolate and whisk until smooth.

Whisk until smooth and steaming hot.

Nutella Hot Chocolate

This decadent flavorful hot cocoa recipe warms even the coldest fingers.  Add a splash of whisky for a tasty adult version.

Follow basic hot chocolate recipe, but substitute ½ C. Nutella for the dark chocolate.  Top with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate shavings before serving.

Junior Mint Hot Chocolate

Movie theater mashup perfection.

Follow basic hot chocolate recipe, but substitute ½ C. junior mints for the dark chocolate.  Top with a handful of mini marshmallows and a crushed Altoid.

Dulce de Leche Hot Chocolate with Toasted Marshmallow

4 Tbs. dulce de leche

2 C. half and half

4 oz. grated bittersweet chocolate

Marshmallows

Warm half and half and dulce de leche in a pan over medium heat.  Whisk in grated chocolate and pour into a cup.  Top with marshmallows. Using a hand torch, brown the marshmallows until golden brown for a beautiful brulée.
