Zapata Mexican Restaurant Opens in South Norwalk (sponsored post)

Located in the heart of historic South Norwalk,Zapata Mexican Restaurant crafts authentic Mexican cuisine in an area rich in history and vibrant in color, Zapata Mexican Restaurant proudly contributes to this energetic environment. This is our second location, the original is located in Palisades, NY where our family-owned and operated restaurant has thrived for over 20 years. Many of our customers come in and ask why SONO? The answer is simple, SONO lacked an authentic Mexican restaurant with fresh ingredients, amazing margaritas, and smiling faces. Freshness is what we believe in and what we thrive on. We personally choose all our produce, and all of our ingredients. We are in a society where fresh and healthy is key! To ensure the highest quality, we also cook all of our products with olive oil to keep it healthy and always tasting delicious. 

Before opening we put a lot of work into making 84 Washington Street POP! We decided the interior needed a total facelift: new bar, new décor, new colors, new atmosphere, new facilities. The new furniture, the bar glassware, and the artwork are now all products of Mexican artisans. We wanted to stand out from the rest, while keeping a modern flare. 

Now that we got that out of the way let’s get to the important part: food and alcohol! We offer an extensive menu that caters to whatever you are craving. My favorite appetizers are the guacamole and the ceviche! (pictured below) The guacamole is made with ripe avocado, tomatoes, cilantro, onions and spices.

The ceviche incudes shrimp, crabmeat, Pico de Gallo and seasoning to give it the right taste and flare. This recipe was crafted over the years and we can finally say it is perfect! You can’t have either of these dishes without our fresh chips and salsa made on premises every day. With just the right spice, you will certainly become hooked on Zapata’s salsa. 

The fajitas are what we are best known for. We offer a choice of chicken, steak, shrimp, or a mix of all three if you can’t decide, sautéed with green peppers, tomatoes, onions. Cooked with Zapata’s fajita sauce, which is made fresh every day, the combination gives great taste and just the right spiciness! Our fajitas are served on a sizzling plate accompanied with rice and beans, plus a side of guacamole, sour cream and tortillas.

Another crowd favorite are the fish tacos, because what’s not to love? Grilled fish that was marinated with garlic, and topped with veggies will have you coming back for more. The fish tacos are also served with rice and beans. Leave room for dessert that you will surely love.

Our delicious desserts will satisfy your sweet tooth with Churros, Helado Frito, and the favorite Tres Leches Cake. 

Saving the best for last, what would a great Mexican restaurant be without MARGARITAS! We make our own sour mix for all the other margaritas in house using fresh ingredients. Since SONO is such a lively neighborhood, we created a margarita just for this part of town, called simply the SONO MARGARITA. But don’t let the name fool you. It’s made with Don Julio Silver tequila, fresh squeezed lime, agave, blue curacao, and topped with our homemade mix. The perfect blend of sour, sweet, and refreshing. Zapata also offers regular margaritas, specialty margaritas, mixed drinks, wine, and an extensive collection of tequila. 

We are open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and have a full service bar. We also show all sports games and events at our bar. That’s not it, we also do private parties, catering, take out, and private party planning! Our menu caters to all, we offer gluten free, vegetarian choices, and a kid's menu!
