Restaurants throughout the city are featuring multi-course, prix-fixe menus. Participating restaurants include Capital Grill, Porrin & Pina, Ted's Montana Grill, Trumbull Kitchen, Vivo, and more.The Fig Cooking School in Milford will help kids learn how to cook over summer break! From Monday, July 16– Friday July 20, kids ages 9-17 can attend a “Summer Breeze” summer break workshop. The week focuses on flavorful menus with seasonal ingredients and exploring the natural world to find the best elements. Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes Cupcake Camp Session 2 takes place from July 16-19 in Oakville. Each Session runs Monday-Thursday from 9am-12pm and culminates in Cupcake War where campers compete and local celebrities come to judge. Caseus Fromagerie Bistro in New Haven is “Celebrating American Made Cheeses” on Tuesday July 17. Join them from 6-7:30pm for a tasting of domestic cheeses. It is $45 per person. Fairfield Cheese Company presents “American Pioneers: An Evening with Cypress Grove Creamery” on Tuesday July 17. Cypress Grove, founded by Mary Keehn in the 1970s, was one of the first to explore the world of goat cheese. Join them for an evening of cheese and wine as Cypress Grove representative, Nate, shares insight into the pioneering company. On Thursday July 19, “Wine & Dine” with Wine & Spirits Director Gretchen Thomas and Chef Dylan Hansen at Barcelona New Haven.Moffley Media’s Best of the Gold Coast 2018 celebration takes place on Thurday July 19 from 6-9pm. The Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center will serve as the backdrop as local vendors, restaurants, personalities, and more show off their nominated and winning products. Tickets start at $55 for general admission. The 2nd Annual Sun Tequila Tasting returns to Mohegan Sun on Friday, July 20! From 8-11pm, sample tequilas and margaritas at mixology stations, dine on complementary Mexican fare, visit the photo booth, dance to a DJ, and more. Tickets are $50. Join Basso Café on Friday July 20 for a Buena Vista Social Club inspired event! The Connecticut Wine Festival in Goshen returns on Saturday July 21. Along with Connecticut wineries the festival features specialty food vendors that will be sampling their local products and even a grape stomp! Tickets start at $10 and the event takes place at the Goshen Fair Grounds. On Saturday July 21, CTNOW presents Barrel Night 2018, a celebration of fine whiskey, spirits, and other barrel aged beverages. Gather at Bill Miller's Castle in Branford to sample an array of top shelf whiskey, bourbon, and rye. Meet and talk to master distillers, enjoy live music, participate in a silent auction, and more. Tickets are $40 and it runs from 6-9pm. The New Haven Downtown Culinary Tour, hosted by Stephen Fries, Food Columnist and Professor of Hospitality Management, will take place on Saturday July 21. Tours depart from the Omni New Haven Hotel and continue on to Stops at 8-9 different restaurants and eateries. It is 3 1/2 - 4 hours, rain or shine.
