Nibble: CT Food Events For Week of September 30th - October 7th

On October 7, put your stomach to the ultimate test with the inaugural Dew Drop Wing Eating Contest!  It costs $25 per person to enter and proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club. 

Millwright’s Social Club, in conjunction with The Wise Old Dog, will take place on Wednesday October 3 from 6-7:30pm.  The “casual night of food and drink in the loft” will feature wines from Lieu Duet and Peterson Winery.  It is $50 per person.

On October 4, Hadley + Occum, Farm Dinner Events continue with Chefs from Àvert.  The series takes place at Sub Edge Farm in Farmington from 6-9pm. 

It’s the end of summer (sigh) and Artisan in Southport invites you to an “End of Summer Patio Party” on Tuesday October 4.  From 5-7pm, enjoy complimentary cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, and live music.

The Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Restaurant Week will run from Sunday September 30 through Sunday October 14.  This year, the event features 24 eateries offering Prix Fixe meals from one end of Westport to Saugatuck to Southport.   

Chef Geoff Lazlo, Donelan Family Wines, Paintings by JAG, and Millstone Farm present an evening of art, wine, and food on the farm celebrating the bounty of the autumn harvest.  Join them for a “Donelan Wine & October Harvest Dinner” on Tuesday October 4 at Millstone Farm, beginning at 6pm. 

Cinder + Salt in Middletown presents a Sustainability Social on Tuesday October 4 from 5-8pm.  Blue Earth Compost, Inc. will demonstrate how to reuse food scraps instead of discarding them in the trash. Meanwhile, ION Restaurant - Vegan, Organic will be in the shop with their vegan treats. 

Villa Bianca presents a "Valley's Oktoberfest" in Seymour on October 5. Enjoy an evening of live music, cuisine, and a variety of the best local and international Oktoberfest beers. 

On Saturdays from 12-4pm in October, visit Eden Farms Nursery & Garden for hayrides, a pumpkin patch, a haunted house, live animals, a children’s activity area, and plenty of fresh veggies.  Find them on Stillwater Avenue in Stamford.

Heirloom Market at Comstock Ferre in Wethersfield  invites you to its 3rd Annual Harvest Festival on Saturday October 6.  From 10am-3pm, visit them for local vendors, food, desserts, and games.

The team behind the Sun Brewfest invites you to Sip & Slice Connecticut on Saturday October 6.  Local breweries and pizzerias from all over the state team up to create a perfect pairing of their finest pizza and craft beers.  Tickets for Sip and Slice Connecticut are $40 and a portion of all ticket sales will go to the Channel 3 Kids Camp. 

REACH Newtown and Yankee Wine & Spirits are teaming up for an Oktoberfest fundraiser on October 6. Each ticket includes live music, an unlimited craft beer tasting, a wine tasting, and all-you-can-eat from Big Green Truck Pizza and Spuds Your Way.

Flanders Fish Market in East Lyme hosts its first annual Shrimpfest on Sunday, October 7 from 2-8pm. They’ll have 3 different bands, shrimp bites, cocktail tastings, games, and more.

On Sunday October 7, Hey Stamford and the organizers of the Hey Stamford! Best Trivia Ever has added 2 hotspots to its roster. Every Tuesday at 8pm catch them at Cask Republic New Haven.  On Wednesdays at 8pm, participate at Gates in New Canaan.

National Taco Day is October 4 and SolToro, located in Mohegan Sun, is serving up a variety of taco platters.  They’ll have Adobo Pork, Roasted Duck, Chicken, Baja Fish, Grilled Shrimp, and Steak.
