Nibble: Delicious & Boozy CT Food Events for April 7-14

At Copps Island Oysters, learn how to shuck an oyster from the masters themselves!  You'll learn about shucking safety, different knives to use, oyster anatomy, shucking techniques, pea crabs, and some delicious easy recipes.  Join them on Saturdays from 2-4pm.  

Stew Leonard’s in Danbury hosts its 16th Annual Egg-Stravaganza on April 11.  Children will be given a map of Stew Leonard’s and a bag to collect eggs. Stew Leonard’s famous costumed characters – including Clover the Cow, Cynthia Chick, and Daphne Duck – will be available to take pictures with children at the end of the Egg Hunt. Two lucky children will win the Egg Hunt’s grand prizes: a $50 gift card to the LEGO Store or a $50 gift card to Pottery Factory.

On Tuesday April 9, Cookshop Plus in West Hartford invites you to a Mediterranean Dinner Class -with Ayelet Connell, PhD, Natural Health Expert.  You’ll make Tabbouleh style riced cauliflower salad, paprika lemon roasted chicken, roasted rosemary potatoes, and sesame tahini cookies. 

Popover Bistro & Bakery in Simsbury, CT will host “A Night of Giving Back”, an evening cocktail party for a cause, on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 7-9PM at their restaurant located at 928 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, CT.  Guests will enjoy a fun evening of cocktails, appetizers, music and a silent auction.  100% of proceeds from the event will be donated to two charities: The Yoga Reaches Out mission to support Boston Children’s Hospital Wellness Program and The Healing Meals Community Project.

Clark & Main and Winfield Street Coffee, both opening up on the Stamford restaurant scene, are among more than a dozen local eateries that will be featured at The Ferguson Library’s major fundraiser, A Novel Affair will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the the Main Library’s DiMattia Building from 5:30-8:30pm. Chop Shop Cooking will teach you to make “More Party Bites” on Friday April 12 from 7-9pm.  Create Shrimp Dumplings with Peanut Sauce, Crabcakes with Rosy Fruit Salsa, Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta with Feta Pesto, Lobster Quesadillas with Mango Salsa, Smoked Duck Tarts, and Cucumber Cups with Feta, Roasted Peppers & Olives.

On April 12, Fleming’s Steakhouse hosts a Macallan Scotch Dinner.  This one-night-only event includes a perfectly prepared six course menu alongside six scotches from the esteemed distillery.  It costs $125 plus tax and tip. 

On April 13, City Steam Brewery in Hartford hosts Beer & Bacon Brewfest from 1-4pm.  The event includes unlimited samples from more than 20 craft breweries, a beer-inspired bacon themed buffet, live music, door prizes, and giveaways. Guests will vote for a favorite flagship beer, with the winning brewery to receive a guest tap in the restaurant. Tickets are $38; a portion of proceeds will be donated to Hartford’s Riverfront Recapture. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Discounts are available for designated drivers.
