Nibble: Tasty CT Food Events For Week of June 2-9

Visit Taprock Beer Bar in Farmington on Monday June 3 for an evening with Bellis Bourbon. The amazing CT product recently hit the market.  Meet the creators, chat with the mixologists, enjoy three different Bellis Bourbon cocktails, and dine on some appetizers.  Tickets are $40 online and $45 at the door. 

Elm City Social in New Haven hosts “The Mixer” on Tuesday June 4.  The event, which takes place on Elm City Social's rooftop patio in New Haven, includes a live mural by Magge Gagliardi, a bartending competition, Collective Arts beer, and samples of their new gin.  5pm-Close. 

Ordinary in New Haven has new weekly specials!   On Mondays, the tavern turns into The New Haven Cocktail Museum with Museum Monday Cocktail specials.  From 4:00-11:30pm, enjoy $2 off all cocktails on the Museum Menu, which is currently highlighting Wild Turkey.  Tuesdays, they will offer $20 Wine Bottle Specials all-day in addition to Happy Hour (4-7pm only).  Join them Wednesday for trivia.

Taste of Bishops Corner 2019 takes place in Hartford on Wednesday June 5.  The indoor/outdoor event features Harrys Bishops Corner, Crown Market, Blue Plate Kitchen, OCHO and more. 

June 5, 2019 marks the 11th Annual SoNo Stroll Benefit.  In its eleventh year, the Stroll has become the biggest and most successful fundraiser that benefits the Human Services Council. The SoNo Stroll kicks off at 5:30 p.m. at Mora Mora, 17 Washington Street, South Norwalk, where a cocktail reception will take place, along with live and silent auctions. Following the reception and auctions, guests partake in a three-course meal at one of the event’s participating SoNo restaurants. They are: Beach House SoNo, El Segundo, Evaritos Mexican Kitchen, Harlan Publick, Match, O’Neill’s Irish Pub, Saltwater SoNo, The Spread, Tablao and Washington Prime. 

Popover Bistro & Bakery in Simsbury is celebrating 5 years in business!  On June 6, they’ll highlight the occasion with a day with complimentary samples of smoothies and free popovers.

Summer is finally here and what better way to kick-off the season than a beer at East Rock Brewing Company in New Haven? Visit them on June 6 for an afternoon of socializing over beer, pizza, and board games.  This “Summer Social Kickoff” is free, but registration must be completed online. 

Downtown Chowdown rolls into Danbury’s Kennedy Park on June 6.  Food trucks like Fork in the Road, Green Grunion, Liberty Rock, and Good Humor Ice Cream will be serving tasty fare from 11:30am-2pm. 

On Friday June 7, Lyman Orchards presents a Farm to Table Dinner.  This plated 5-course farm-inspired dinner includes CT-grown pork, vegetables and cheeses, all accompanied by great drinks specially paired by the experts at Black Hog, and dessert.  The dinner features the farmers who grow or raise the food we are serving, as well as the Master Brewers from Black Hog.  Tickets are $95 per person. 

OEC Brewery in Oxford is turning 5!  Join them for an epic Anniversary party and dinner on Friday June 7.  Only 52 tickets are available, so be sure to purchase your spot soon.  It is $125 per person. 

Saturday June 8 is National Rosé Day! Celebrate with bottomless Rosé in a beautiful garden venue: Wickham Park in Manchester, CT.  All tickets include four hour admission, complimentary soda and water, hors d’oeuvres, raffle tickets for giveaways, souvenir pin, access to on site activations and giveaways from Angry Orchard Rosé, MAC Cosmetics, CURLS hair products and Divine Delights baked goods.  General Admission and VIP Packages are available and include drink vouchers. 

The next installation of "Worth Tasting" Downtown New Haven Culinary Tour takes place on Saturday June 8.  The New Haven Downtown Culinary Tour, hosted by Stephen Fries, Food Columnist and Professor of Hospitality Management, stops at 8-9 different restaurants and eateries throughout New Haven. 

SavorCity is a monthly tour of Bridgeport restaurants, food, art and music, showcasing the cultural delights and hidden gems of Connecticut’s most diverse city.  The 7th installation takes place on Saturday June 8 and includes a visit is to El Pueblito at 121 Wall Street.  The excursion starts at 12:15pm. 

Black Rock Day is Sunday June 9!  Head to Ellsworth Park from 9am-6pm for live music, food trucks, drinks, and more. 

On Sunday June 9, Harry’s Wine & Liquor Market, Barcelona Restaurant, and the Missing Link Wine Company present The 11th Annual (S)wine & Dine Pig Roast.  The 4 course meal includes Special Guests Jessica Gualano, National Sales Director of David Bowler Wines, and Maria Alfonso, Winemaker of Volvoreta.  It is $90 (all inclusive).
