Nibble: Fun-licious CT Food Events For June 16-23

Chef Brian Lewis & The Cottage are delighted to offer a Summer Market Menu, celebrating local farmers, fishermen and artisans throughout the region.  The prix fixe options costs $45 for 3 courses.  Selections rotate.

Two Roads’s “Road Jam Music Fest” takes place on June 21 and June 22.  Each ticket gets you entrance to the concerts as well as your first pint of beer. The namesake of the Road Jam Festival, Two Roads Road Jam Raspberry Wheat with Lemongrass will be pouring in addition to other select Two Roads’ beers. 

Jesup Hall has launched the “Splendid Table,” a special Happy Hour every Wednesday on the patio from 5:30-6:30PM. Their communal table will be filled with a bounty of great dishes to go along with our cocktail, beer and wine specials. Come in and grab a plate, visit the table as much as you would like. $25 per person.

On Sunday June 23, The Hickories & Wood Fire Food presents “Farm & Sea,” a woodfire multi-course meal with wine pairings.  It starts at 5pm with a cocktail reception and continues with dinner.  Tickets are $160.

On June 19, enjoy a Cheese and Wine Tasting at Farmington Polo Club.  Start the evening with a prosecco toast under the tent watching the polo game, then partake in selection of artisanal cheeses and pairings of locally made jams, pickles and charcuterie. 

Max Chef to Farm dinners are adventurous events that celebrate and support CT-grown products.  Your evening begins with a reception, then you'll head out on a farm tour. Your tour concludes in the tented area where dressed tables and candlelight offer a view of the al fresco kitchen where the Max Chef to Farm team prepare a delectable meal with produce plucked from the fields you just toured.  On Thursday, June 20, head to Rosedale Farms & Vineyards for a meal focused on "Berries and Blossoms.” 

Make Music Day is an annual global celebration of music occurring on the summer solstice.  This year, it takes place on Friday, June 21.  Among the U.S. cities hosting major celebrations is Norwalk, CT. Spearheaded by the Wall Street Neighborhood Association and supported by Norwalk Now.  “Make Music Day” features a great music line-up.  www.Norwalknow.org.

Republic in Bloomfield now offers prix fixe dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.  $24.99 gets your choice of starter, entree, and dessert.  Selections rotate throughout the summer.

The Downtown Milford Farmers' Market is now open for the season.  Check it out on Saturdays from 9am-1pm at Wasson Field.

“FOOD IS ART:Nurturing the Creative Soul” comes to the Keeler Tavern Museum & Historic Center in Ridgefield on Sunday, June 23 from 4-7pm.  "Food Is Art" is an artisanal experience that celebrates the art of food, simply and elegantly.  It will take place outdoors in the garden and features the cuisine of Chef Jeff Taibe. 

At Market Grille in Manchester, treat yourself to our $16.95 3-Course Prix Fixe Lunch, which includes one starter, one entrée, and one dessert.  It is served Monday – Friday from 11am-3pm. 

The brand-new summer Pop-Ritas available exclusively at SolToro Mexican Cantina in the Mohegan Sun are the perfect seasonal treat to cool down with the arrival of hotter temperatures.  The Kiwi Watermelon Rita is made with in-house blended kiwi and fresh watermelon juices with a spicy tajin rim, while the Strawberry Coconut Rita is blended with natural strawberry puree, coconut water and a delectable honey-dipped shredded coconut rim.  Both popsicle margaritas feature 1800 brand tequila and are available throughout the summer for $14.

Boca Oyster Bar is now open in Bridgeport’s Steelpointe Harbor.  Spearheaded by Steelpointe Restaurant Group, Boca offers 13,000 square feet of dining, bar, and patio space.  The menu features quintessential New England seafood fare, as seen with such fish house favorites as colossal fried shrimp with hand cut fried potatoes and cabbage slaw, jumbo crab cake with a citrus crema, and the Boca lobster roll with fresh picked Maine lobster, warm sherry, and Old Bay butter sauce on a brioche roll.
