This week, for the Walrus Alley Date Night Takeout, they are serving up some smoked short ribs for two, (complete with grits, collards, salad, and apple crisp) with a side of Amelie. Directed by one of our favorite French directors who also made such outlandish, other-worldly films as Delicatessen and City of Lost Children, this movie is quintessential 2001. Join Le Banh Patisserie for an “O Christmas Tree Cake Decorating Zoom Class’ complete with full Kit. kids and adults alike will have fun to express their artistic skills on this edible canvas and learn how to make flannel style cake. Kit includes red and black chocolate mint cake, mint buttercream , green, red, and yellow “paint”, palette knife, piping bags and a cake board. Tap-a-Tree Maple Sugaring Registration Now Open at Ambler Farm: Learn the science and history of maple sugaring by being a hands-on part of the process. While we are not able to hold our traditional informational workshops this season due to state regulations, we will provide virtual resources and a Zoom call to answer your questions. Then, on January 30th or 31st (provided the sap is running), we invite your family out to Ambler Farm to choose your Maple tree and hang your bucket to collect sap. Choose the day and time that works best for you. Each week we will send regular updates on the running of the sap so that your family can come out to the Farm to collect sap from your tree. We will boil down the sap in our sugar shack and send each family home with their very own bottle of Ambler Farm 100% all-natural and hand-harvested Maple Syrup. The Chowda Club was created a few months ago to keep the Chowdafest brand alive and provide some semblance of normalcy to those who are fans of both chowder and the event. Every month they announce two featured restaurants representing past award winners as well as those new to the chowder scene!  This month the Chowda Club is currently taking online orders for both a decadent lobster bisque from Rory’s in Darien CT and a popular cheeseburger chowder from the Smithsonian Cafe & Chowder House in MA.  Orders are taken online now through Dec. 23rd and arrive at your home on Dec. 30th via FedEx.

It’s Customer Appreciation Day at Deemans Bar Grill on Sunday, December 20th at 3 PM. As per their facebook page, “We do have the best family here at Deemans. But this year has shown us the overwhelming love and support everyone has given us!! Not only to survive this unpredictable year but keep us here for 15 years. Will be putting out a buffet so hope you’ll join us! Don’t forget to wear your fabulous Christmas sweater.”

Cisco Brewers, the renowned family (and dog-friendly) hot spot and producer of world-class beers, wines and spirits, is launching its first outpost in Connecticut, along with Triple Eight Distillery and Nantucket Vineyard. It also is home to the best single malt whisky in America: Triple Eight Distillery’s Notch 15-year, honored at the 2020 Whisky Magazine awards. The new location will be at The Village, a brand new large-scale, indoor-outdoor, premium work-play environment in Stamford.

Restaurant owner Jamshed Khalid has announced his popular local eatery, Ali Baba’s Fusion, is evolving. His Halal restaurant will be known as Ali Baba’s Kitchen beginning December 11, 2020. The evolution includes new menu items, a newly designed website, and signage as the restaurant is undergoing its rebranding to better reflect customers’ dining habits, while preparing to offer franchise opportunities throughout the Northeast.

With the holidays looking very different this year, The Shubert Theatre  is hosting the fourth installment of its signature fundraiser, “Next Stop: New Haven” on Sunday, December 13 at 4:00pm. This special holiday edition invites families to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holiday with a 45-minute virtual program, hosted by a very special guest from the North Pole, including a holiday-themed trivia game, musical entertainment from a Broadway rising star, Christmas carols, a theatre-related holiday craft and other surprise guests.
