Park City Music Hall Launches Sunday Brunch...and It's Delicious

Stephanie Webster

Park City Music Hall opened in 2020 in the Black Rock neighborhood of Bridgeport, after an extensive and beautifully executed renovation of what was once The Acoustic. The new team, the Torres family, also own neighborhood favorite, HarborView Market, situated just around the corner from the venue, where guests are often treated to live music, while enjoying a great casual seasonal breakfast and lunch menu. And let’s not forget their iconic chocolate chip cookies that always make the “best of” lists. The bottom line is, after 30 years in the business, the Torres folks know a thing or two about cooking and hospitality.

When they were offered the opportunity to reinvent and expand the beloved local music hangout, The Acoustic, they jumped in with what seemed like every hand in Black Rock. They created a spot that both increased the audience size and draw for the venue, but also amped up the experience with a new premium craft cocktail program and elevated bar menu, served Thursday through Sunday. Not only has Park City Music Hall become a spot to hear great local and national bands, but they are meeting the needs of hungry bar-goers, families, and food lovers, who come for dinner and their new…wait for it…BRUNCH!

We checked out the new Brunch menu last week, and as the photos may indicate, we enjoyed every bite. The initial menu conceptualization was guided by the Torres crew, but they quickly realized they needed a Kitchen Manager to work on ongoing menu development. Enter Chef Connor Moen, formerly of Little Dumpling House, and the co-creator of the LDH’s famous Katsu Sando. We knew that Moen could do great things with his homemade Lao Gan Ma and dumplings, but wait till you see what the guy does with Strawberry Mascarpone Stuffed French Toast and their anything but ordinary egg sandwiches.

We started our journey with a few cocktails including the Bloody Mary, lightly spicy, and topped with peppers, salami, and bacon wrapped pickles. While the pickles are not on the menu, we couldn’t help asking for more.

The Rosé Sangria was a nice light entree into our day-drinking, not at all cloying (as some can be), and well balanced with strawberries and oranges dotted throughout. My favorite brunch beverage was the Adult Iced Coffee with Mr. Black coffee liqueur, vanilla vodka, cold brew and oat milk. This was the perfect combination of wake me up….but also chill me out and let me enjoy my live music, courtesy of Matt McNulty on stage.

The menu is small but expertly curated. There is something for everyone.

The Eggy breakfast sandwich (above) was a huge hit amongst this group, with a fried egg, “Space Bacon Jam” (please bottle this to go), hash browns, and a side of tots. We enjoyed the choice of the brioche bun on all of the egg sandwiches, and for a extra $2 you can turn your tots into Truffle Parm Tots…and really, why wouldn’t you go there?

The Egg McNulty, names after the above mentioned musician, was also a huge fan favorite, with egg, chili crisp, jalapeño slaw, manchego, and avocado. You can’t really swing by here without grabbing one of these, priced at $11. The Avocado Toast was simply plated, great for the little ones, and can be topped with a soft boiled egg.

The Roast Pork Tacos with perfectly cooked Cuban pulled pork, pineapple salsa and chipotle mayo were spot on. And no brunch at Park City Music Hall can truly be called complete without the Stuffed French Toast, think cut challah french toast, stuffed with strawberry mascarpone, and loaded with fresh berries, whipped cream and syrup. This is what we call a “finisher.”

All in all, the Park City experience is one well worth having. The staff is lovely. The atmosphere is fun and visually pleasing, the food is delicious, and the live music played over a proper sound system is the icing on the cake (P.S. Chef Moen-we’d love some cake on the menu).

Park City tell us the Fall dinner menu is in the works, including new cocktails, and while you can only get brunch on Sundays here starting at 11AM, you can enjoy their dinner menu Thursday-Saturday nights.
