Jeff Rogers, the head cider maker, works directly with his brother and brother-in-law Peter Rogers and Greg Parzych, co-presidents of the farm. Passionate about creating high-quality, delicious hard cider, Long View Ciderhouse combines traditional cider-making techniques with modern methods to create ciders that appeal to a variety of tastes. Peter and Greg took over the farm from John Rogers in 2006 and were joined by Jeff in 2021.Long View Ciderhouse's hard ciders are dry, unfiltered, unpasteurized, and naturally carbonated, with an alcohol content ranging from 6.5% to 8.9% ABV. Currently, the Bottle Shop offers four ciders: Blueberry, Peach, Cherry, and a special single variety apple wine made with the Roxbury Russet apple, among the oldest cultivars in the country and grown for centuries on the farm.Long View Ciderhouse's name and motto, "carpent tua poma nepotes," which translates to "let the grandchildren gather the fruit," reflect the importance of intergenerational thinking and planning that has sustained the 200+ year old family farm.In July, Long View Ciderhouse will unveil its custom cider tap truck, to be known as the Orchard Bar, located on an orchard hilltop near the farm’s Pick Your Own location near Shuttle Meadow Reservoir. Customers will be able to relax and enjoy a cider while taking in the scenic views of the orchards where the apples are grown. This picturesque setting emphasizes the company's commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients and its connection to the land. Rotating food trucks will provide a variety of culinary offerings for guests to enjoy while taking in views as far flung as Sleeping Giant in Hamden to the southwest, to the Hartford skyline looking towards the northeast. In addition to ciders, Long View Ciderhouse has plans to roll out a line of craft apple brandy, moonshine, and spirits in the future. In the meantime, customers can look forward to handcrafted apple moonshine cocktails, infused with herbs and botanicals, available at the mobile bar truck and orchard bar.For more information on Long View Ciderhouse and their new Bottle Shop, visit their website at www.longviewciderhouse.com or follow them @longviewciderhouse for updates and news.
