Are you looking to branch out of your basic beer and wine slump? Bet ya didn’t know there were cider houses all over Connecticut looking to prove that hard cider (and non-alcoholic cider) can be just as refreshing, if not more, than beer, wine, and hard seltzers.

Don’t know where to start your cider-tasting journey? We got you covered! Whether you like sweet, sour, or dry ciders, this list has it all…plus a little extra. After all, nothing says Connecticut comfort like a glass of cider on a beautiful orchard. 


Yankee Cider - East Haddam

Yankee Cider Company is Connecticut's first farm cidery tap room and is the five-year-running "Best Cider In Connecticut" according to Untappd, the Durham Fair, and the Eastern States Exposition. The tap room is open year-round with regular hours and features 12 hard ciders on draft every weekend. The cider varieties change frequently and you can take a sneak peek of what's currently offered by visiting our website. The orchard and farm grounds are open to the public for self-guided tours, offer outdoor seating, and you can pick your own fruit as well. Special crafting events as well as guest food trucks are also scheduled throughout the year.


Beardsley Cider Mill and Orchard - Shelton

The Beardsley's have been farming this plot of land since 1849 in the White Hills section of Shelton. They have over 14,000 dwarf apple trees in their Pick-Your-Own (PYO) orchard and 400 peach trees! PYO are weekend's only, mid September thru October. And don't miss their fresh cider that is pressed on site in a clean, visible press room for customers to watch. It is 100% juice made from washed ripe apples using an ultraviolet light system for safety and to preserve the fresh apple flavor. Delicious! Open August thru Christmas daily 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. 

Arrigoni Winery & Cider Co. - Portland

Bishop’s Orchard - Guilford

Bishop’s is open year round with hard cider tastings offered everyday; their ciders are also available for purchase. They use the apples and fruit they grow on their farm to make their award winning ciders and wines. Bishop’s ciders are moderately carbonated and hold their fizz for hours, giving you a much longer time to enjoy!

Hayward Farm RCS - New Hartford

Family-owned since 1927, Hayward’s sells cider, apples, and an array of fruits and veggies, all grown and made right on their premises. 

Holmberg Orchards - Gales Ferry -

While Holmberg’s orchard and cider/wine barn is closed for the season, you can still visit their market to purchase and take home an array of their ciders. Their craft ciders are made on the premises and some flavors include their original hard cider, black currant cider, rosé cider, honey cider, and more. 

New England Cider Co. - Wallingford

New England Cider Company is the largest craft cider brand in CT. You can order their many, many ciders online or visit their taproom Thursday-Sunday, year round. They also sell their ciders at multiple bars and breweries all over CT. Try their popular blueberry, pineapple, or raspberry flavored ciders! 

Silverman’s Farm - Easton

Silverman’s makes their own sweet cider from their harvested apples and uses the cider to make their apple cider donuts, made fresh daily! You can grab some fresh cider, donuts, pies, and more at their country market. 

Stafford Cidery - Stafford Springs

Stafford Cidery makes hand-crafted hard cider designed for taste, smoothness, and quality. Visit their taproom in downtown Stafford Springs to try their many offerings.

Woodland Farm - South Glastonbury

Woodland Farm makes small batch unpasteurized sweet cider using a larger variety of apples from September-March. They offer cider in quarts, half gallons, and gallons, as well as bulk cider for home brewers. They even occasionally make batches of pear cider!

Below is a list of places only offering cider on the weekends or those that are not open until April or late summer/early fall of this year. We love all ciders equally, so don’t forget to check these out when they open! 

Apple Theory Cidery - North Haven

Located in the industrial area of North Haven, Apple Theory offers a variety of ciders and wines for you to try. They use CT grown heirloom apples, which they use to make the ciders that you can try right on their premises! Open Friday-Sunday. 

Averill Farm - Washington Depot

While they are closed for the season, their farmer’s markets will be back in May. They are a 10th generation-owned family farm that offers their very own cider, apple cider donuts, pumpkins, and more. 

B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill - Mystic

B.F. Clyde’s is the oldest steam-powered cider mill in the United States! They age their hard cider in oak whiskey barrels and they go directly from the barrel to the jug, which gives them a raw, more natural flavor. They reopen for the season on September 1st. 

Clark Farms at Bushy Hill Orchard - Granby

Clark Farms makes a sweet, non-alcoholic cider from the 20+ apples grown on their very own farm. They also offer 4 varieties of hard cider and 2 varieties of wine, created from the apples and fruit they grow from spring through fall. Open Saturday and Sunday.

Gotta’s Farm and Cider Mill - Portland

Gotta’s was established in 1898 and is a 5th generation farm that offers their very own homemade cider, as well as pies, breads, and more! They are closed for the season but will reopen mid-April. 

Hogan’s Cider Mill - Burlington

Established as a Cider Mill in 1912, Hogan’s presses locally grown apples to create a beverage that has been a staple in New England for generations. Hogan’s has proudly maintained its historical roots while constantly creating new craft ciders and cocktails. Closed until next season.

Long View Ciderhouse - Southington

Long View’s cider truck is closed until April, but you can visit their bottle shop everyday and their Orchard Bar Thursday-Sunday. Long View gets their apples from their 8th generation family farm, Rogers Orchards. They use traditional cider-making techniques to make and bottle the wide variety of hard ciders they offer.
